Remus’ 1st Birthday

I am a crazy dog lady.

I shouldn’t say that.  Then all the other people who buy or make cakes for their pets would be crazy and I don’t think they are.  I should call myself an enthusiastic dog owner.  There is nothing wrong with wanting to celebrate your pet’s birthday.  Most people consider them to be a member of the family.  Now I’m just rambling.. Onward to my puppy’s 1st birthday bash!

Remus turned one on September 25th 2014.  To celebrate his birthday I wanted to throw him a party, however, his usual friends were either busy or Jehovah’s Witnesses.  With that in mind, I still wanted to get him a cake and celebrate in some way.  So, what we did was celebrate at the park.  Let me tell you something.. It is impossible to not make puppy friends when you have a dog-friendly cake.  He had such a great time!!

The only issue I had with the evening was his cake etiquette.  I bought him this cake thinking I would let him at it and he would chow down without any hint of stopping.  I was picturing something along the lines of a one year old’s smash cake.  Since he is so well behaved, he wouldn’t do anything more than sniff the cake and look at me with pleading eyes.  When I told him he could eat it, I got a look that plainly stated: “I will not touch that cake.  This is a trick.  I know it is!”  So, I just sighed and cut him off of piece and placed it on the bench, where he could then happily scarf it down.  I should really commend him for refusing to eat something that was on a plate-like surface, but I have to admit that the moment was very anti-climatic.

Overall, I think he had a great time!  Also, I almost cried because I was so happy that he was happy.  That may qualify me as being a crazy dog lady, but I will leave that up to you.

I would also like to thank Woof Gang Bakery for making his lovely cake!  The worker was even kind enough to accommodate my strange request of having an alligator on his cake.  (His favorite animal is an alligator.)  I went to the San Antonio location, but they have locations all over.  They also have cookies for all occasions, as well as toys and other dog necessities.  I highly recommend you check them out.
